Healing is a spiral. 🌀 Somedays the grief and pain are nonexistent, then without warning we trip onto an old stone we hadn’t noticed before.
I’ve noticed for myself and the mother wound I carry that a real turning point in my spiritual empathy and compassion came when my father told me a story about my mother’s childhood. It was as if I was seeing her life for the first time and trauma she experienced.
I understood for the first time the real pain she was is and saw how the pain rippled out into her relationships. It didn’t excuse the horrific things she did, but I feeling saw the root to how she became who she was.
Especially since she will never take accountability for her actions, I have not spoken with her in ten years, but forgiving her was an opportunity for me to expand, grow, and heal. To send offerings of healing to her in hopes that one day she may expect it, is probably one of the most healing experiences I’ve ever experienced.
But the deeper I go into forgiveness for myself and the events that transpired, Im surprised to find new layers of pain I still hold from the mother wound. With the eyes of compassion and forgiveness I’m finding that I’m seeing the events from the adult mind. Seeing both sides of the story. Allowing me heal in a way I would never have been able to before.
Getting to the root of my traumas, I’ve found a purpose in them. Using them as a tool to aid those that have similar stories.
Blessings to you on your journey. You’re doing amazing.
Ah, love. Thank you so much for sharing your profound story. I can feel that you, too, have traveled this road. I totally relate to what you said about finding new layers of pain and seeing them as the adult now. It changes the way we interact with ourselves and others… how we welcome in the pain instead of feeling it shouldn’t be there. I’m so glad you got the opportunity to experience your mother from a different angle and allowed it to help you heal. Truly honored to receive you and your story. 🤍
I’m honored to receive your story as well. May we continue to grow and expand our love and understanding of the lessons and burdens we carry so that they may become lighter. ✨💚
This touched my heart deeply! Your talent for writing and allowing yourself to go to the vulnerable places to share more of your story is a powerful combination! Mahalo for sharing with us, sister, and inspiring others to do the same ❤️
Mahalo, sister, for your reflection!! It means so much coming from you... 🩷 I was listening to our reading this week and that was part of what inspired me to go there. I truly hope this does inspire others!
It is tricky. You don't want to reduce it with sounding like you're bypassing the emotional toll of the journey which is so real and to be valued! I see and hear you, sister.

I relate to feeling another's pain as the path to forgiveness. I have experienced it that way as well. Beautiful share, sister. Aloha mā.
Thank you so much, sister. It means a tremendous amount coming from you… it’s tricky to talk about these things. Aloha Mā from my core 🩵
